Christchurch United clinch back-to-back Southern League titles

posted in: News, Southern League

Christchurch United have won the Southern League title for 2023 after nearest rivals Cashmere Technical dropped points in a 2-2 draw against Ferrymead Bays.

Saturday’s result by Tech means United could not be caught, with three games to play, and have taken back-to-back titles.

On Sunday, Christchurch United beat Green Island 15-3.

On Tuesday, they meet FC Twenty 11.

While the result won’t change United’s league position, FC Twenty 11 desperately need to cause an upset to keep alive any hopes of clearing the foot of the table.

Christchurch United play Melville United in the final of the Chatham Cup at Auckland’s North Harbour Stadium on Sunday September 10.
