Of her move to PSV, Riley told the club’s website: “It is a young team that wants to play attractive football. I look forward to being part of that and putting PSV further on the map.”

The club’s women’s manager Sandra Doreleijers said:

“She is a very skilled player with experience at the highest level.

“In the conversations with her, it was confirmed to us that we are a match. We are confident that she can succeed here.”

Though born in New Zealand, Riley moved to Australia when seven, and played age group football for Australia’s U-17 and U-20 teams before playing one game for the Matildas.

She switched her allegiance, making her Ferns debut in September 2022 and becoming part of New Zealand’s World Cup squad.
