Waikato Unicol have won the Lotto NRFL Southern Conference, earning the right to play Northern Conference champions Franklin United in a promotion play-off.
The winner of the play-off will go up to the Lotto NRFL Men’s Championship, replacing Waiheke Island who have been relegated.
Unicol clinched the Southern Conference crown with a 2-1 win at Otumoetai, a win they needed to scrape past Cambridge who were leaders at the start of the matchday.
For the Scott Parsonage-coached Unicol, it means back-to-back titles after the side won last season’s WaiBOP Premiership.
