South Auckland clubs Franklin United and Papakura City have been shortlisted for regional sports awards.
Papakura City, the national women’s futsal champions, are a finalist for Club of the Year at the Honda NZ Counties Manukau Sport Sporting Excellence Awards for 2023.
Franklin United, who won promotion to the Lotto NRFL Men’s Championship, have been shortlisted for Team of the Year.
Franklin’s title-winning head coach, Mark Holt, and Papakura’s women’s futsal head coach, Marvin Eakins, are both nominees for the Sports Coach of the Year.
The Papakura City U-10 Fantails team is one of seven nominees for the Counties-Manukau Junior Team of the Year.
Papakura club secretary Cheryl Derrick is a finalist for the region’s Administrator of the Year.
Papakura City president David Johnson will receive a Volunteer of the Year award, one of eight recipients to be recognised at the finals night.
Award winners will be revealed at a function to be held at Manukau’s Sports Bowl Function Centre, Clover Park, on Thursday November 23, 2023.
