LISTEN: Wellington Olympic captain Ben Mata — ‘We’re not done yet’

Wellington Olympic captain Ben Mata says the new national champions will take a couple of weeks off but will then focus on getting ready for what could be his side’s most important fixture next year.

Mata told NewstalkZB‘s Adam Cooper the upcoming OFC Champions League play-off with Auckland City in February/March meant the Wellington Olympic players would make the most of a mental break from football before starting over.

“It’s nice to have that taste of winning something that we chased for so long but we’re not done yet,” he said.

“We’ve got a few more things we want to win.”

Mata and teammate Jack-Henry Sinclair were interviewed for 14 minutes by host Cooper, and described their feelings of joy when Wellington Olympic finally overcame arch-rivals Auckland City to lift the Men’s National League trophy.
