Nelson Suburbs stalwart Gary Hinks has received a Lifetime Contribution to Sport award at the Tasman Sports Awards.

Hinks (69), who is a Life Member at Suburbs, has been instrumental in helping create opportunities for Nelson players to develop through playing in national competitions, pursue professional careers and to gain representative honours.

Also recognised at the same awards function was Nelson Suburbs’ Katie Pugh (15) who received an Emerging Talent award.

Pugh was a member of the successful New Zealand team at this year’s OFC U-16 Women’s Championship in Tahiti.

Suburbs’ U-12 Kings were nominees for the Junior Sports Team of the Year and Neil Harding was nominated for Coach of the Year.
