Starting line-ups confirmed: Katie Bowen to make 100th Ferns appearance

posted in: Football Ferns

Defender Katie Bowen will make her 100th appearance for New Zealand after being named captain of the Ferns starting line-up for their second match against Colombia in Bogatá.

Bowen takes the captain’s armband from Rebekah Stott who will miss the game through illness.

Apart from the replacement of Stott by Kate Taylor, New Zealand will start with the same side as in Sunday’s 0-0 draw, while Colombia have made seven changes to their line-up.

Before the game, Bowen (29) told a media briefing of her 100th appearance: “I don’t think it’s really hit me yet. I think it will hit me after the game.

“I’m focused on executing our game plan and getting a result against Colombia first, and then whatever comes with that, comes with that.

“Hopefully, it’s a strong performance and one that we will remember as a team.”

Meanwhile, Colombia’s interim head coach Ángelo Marsiglia has opted for up-and-coming players in their line-up while naming goalkeeper Sandra Sepúlveda (74 caps), Daniela Montoya (captain) (85 caps) and Leicy Santos (64 caps) on the bench.
