VIDEO: Ferns midfielder scores double in English Women’s FA Cup tie

Newly-capped New Zealand international Katie Kitching has scored two goals for her Sunderland club in their 7-0 drubbing of Durham Cestria in the third round of England’s Adobe Women’s FA Cup.

Midfielder Kitching (25) was in top form, finding the net midway through the first half but being ruled offside.

In the 34th minute, Kitching scored with a first-time shot into the bottom corner, giving her side a 3-0 lead.

Kitching scored Sunderland’s sixth goal of the day in the second half, curling a direct free-kick over a defensive wall and inside the far post.

She was then substituted, giving her a chance to recuperate from her just-completed trip to Colombia with the Football Ferns, where she made her international debut, coming off the bench in both friendly internationals in Bogata.

Sunderland are currently second in the 12-club Women’s Championship, the second tier of English women’s football.
