Franklin United have appointed Christian Dawson as the club’s new women’s head coach and female football development coach.

He joins from Auckland United and replaces outgoing coach Pablo Nunez who is moving overseas.

In its announcement, Franklin United said:

“Having come from being a part of the hugely successful Auckland United campaign as an assistant coach, where the side won the NRFL Women’s Premier League and the National League title in 2023, the club believe Christian is the right fit for success at our club.

“In 2022, he also saw success with Auckland United winning the prestigious Kate Shepherd Cup.

“In the development space, Dawson has been involved heavily in the National Youth League at Waitakere United, Auckland United and Auckland City, winning the National League Youth title with the latter in 2019.

“In the past few seasons, he has been a senior academy coach and has worked with a number of current Football Ferns and professional players.”
