WaiBOP’s CK Kawana-Waugh to help officiate at FIFA Club World Cup

New Zealand’s participation at the FIFA Club World Cup isn’t over yet, despite Auckland City’s first-round exit.

Referee Campbell-Kirk Kawana-Waugh will be the fourth official for Saturday’s second-round tie between Egyptian champions Al Ahly and Al-Ittihad, the Saudi champions who beat Auckland City 3-0.

Kawana-Waugh, who is the referee manager for WaiBOP Football, was one of 25 referees at the FIFA U-20 Men’s World Cup in Argentina in May.

He will help three Venezuelan referees officiate Saturday’s match before an expected crowd of more than 50,000 at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah.

The match kicks off at 7am (NZT) on Saturday December 16, 2023, and will be live-streamed free by FIFA+.
