VIDEO: Waine train gets back on track with goal in English Championship

All Whites striker Ben Waine has staked his claim for a regular starting position with a goal for Plymouth Argyle in their 3-3 draw with Birmingham City’s English Championship.

Waine was given a rare start for Argyle by the club’s director of football, Neil Dewsnip, who has become the side’s caretaker manager following the departure of manager Steven Schumacher to Stoke City.

Trailing 3-1 to 10-man City, Waine dragged back a goal in the 68th minute with a perfectly-timed lunge into the Birmingham six-yard box, getting the better of defender Marc Roberts to toe-poke the ball into the net.

At first, the goal was awarded as a Roberts own goal but it was subsequently credited to Waine who made last contact.
