The Wellington Phoenix have gained access to world-class specialist radiology imaging services.
The Phoenix have partnered with Pacific Radiology and Auckland Radiology, which are both part of the RHCNZ Medical Imaging Group – New Zealand’s largest private radiology provider.
The partnership gives the club’s men’s and women’s players access to specialist radiology imaging services, such as x-rays, ultrasounds, MRIs, CT scans, and bone density scans.
Head Phoenix physiotherapist Cory Glover is already seeing the benefits of the new partnership, which allows faster and more accurate diagnosis and treatment of injuries.
“In our line of work having imaging done accurately and as quickly as possible could be the difference between a player being available for the weekend and not,” Glover said.
“We had an example of that ahead of the men’s opening game when a player got imaging urgently through Pacific Radiology. It allowed the player to play on Sunday versus being stuck at home over the weekend and being in the dark about their injury.
“As a result of this partnership, we can plan a lot faster and carry out our rehab accordingly which is super handy.”
Pacific Radiology is part of a nationwide network of 73+ clinics, eight of which are in the Wellington region.
“Our players are spread from Upper Hutt to Porirua and to Wellington City so having access to those clinics means there is less stress for the players.”
There are also 15 Auckland Radiology clinics in Tāmaki Makaurau which the Phoenix will have access to when the club plays at double-header at Go Media Stadium Mt Smart later this month.
Terry McLaughlin, CEO of RHCNZ Medical Imaging Group, said:
“2023 has already seen Pacific Radiology, Bay Radiology and Auckland Radiology establish a strong connection to the football community by providing medical imaging services for the FIFA Women’s World Cup as well as sponsoring football at the AIMS Games in Tauranga.
“Our clinical teams play a vital role in providing accurate, detailed, and timely imaging services that aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of sports-related injuries.
“Their dedication to the welfare of athletes ensures that individuals at every level of sport receive the highest quality care.”
