The Wellington Phoenix have been beaten 2-1 by the Central Coast Mariners in Round 12 of the women’s A-League.
Playing at Sydney’s Leichhardt Oval, the Phoenix went ahead in the third minute through Emma Main but the Mariners fought back with two first-half goals.
A second-half stalemate ensured the Mariners notched their first win of 2024 while the Phoenix are in fourth place on a congested table, only three points ahead of 10th place.
