Midfielder Annalie Longo pulls out of Football Ferns squad ‘as a precaution’

Midfielder Annalie Longo has withdrawn from the Football Ferns squad at the OFC Women’s Olympic Qualifier tournament in Samoa.

NZ Football released a statement on Friday (February 9) saying her withdrawal was “a precaution to avoid aggravating a calf strain.”

The 133-cap Longo did not play in Wednesday’s tournament opener against Tonga, which New Zealand won 3-0.

Canberra United’s Ruby Nathan would stay with the squad to provide cover for Longo, the statement said.
