Auckland’s yet-to-be-named A-League expansion club is recruiting a head of marketing ahead of this year’s launch.
The club, which will enter the men’s A-League in 2024 and the women’s A-League a year later, is recruiting the position through Global Elite Sports, a specialist recruitment agency for sports-related businesses.

“As head of marketing, you will be responsible for the operational design and delivery of the strategic marketing, brand and content plans for the new Auckland A-League club.
“You will oversee the development and implementation of the club’s marketing strategy, ensuring world-class integrated marketing and digital content are delivered based on data and key consumer insights, while measuring and analysing the effectiveness of the campaigns as they relate to the club’s overall strategic goals.”
Desired skills and experience
- Proven record working within a marketing leadership position with 5+ years experience.
- A history of delivering successful marketing and brand campaigns, especially across digital media and CRM / database marketing.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight timelines and demonstrated ability to successfully work with a diverse range of stakeholders at all levels.
- Management and analysis of data and analytics to drive business outcomes.
- Highly organised and the ability to manage workloads while maintaining high attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate well and form commercial relationships with stakeholders and manage expectations with all levels of the business, internally and externally.
- The ability to forecast issues in terms of their impacts on staff, fans, financials and business strategy.
- A team player who works for team, business and delivery success.
- Prior experience working in sport is not required; however, a passion for sport is important.
- Relevant tertiary education in marketing, communications, digital media or similar.
