Midfielder Emma Pijnenburg makes debut in top tier of Dutch football

New Zealand U-20 international Emma Pijnenburg has made her first team debut for Dutch Eredivisie side Feyenoord, helping them to a 2-1 win against local rivals Excelsior.

Midfielder Pijnenburg (19) has been with the club since heading overseas in late 2022, after helping her Western Springs club finish runners-up in the Women’s National League.

In July 2023, she was one of the outstanding performers for New Zealand at the OFC U-19 Women’s Championship, scoring four goals at the tournament and helping her side clinch their place at the 2024 U-20 World Cup.
