Budding All White Matt Dibley-Dias has scored a spectacular goal for his Fulham U-21 side against London rivals West Ham United.
Playing in the English Premier League 2 competition, the Lower Hutt-born midfielder met a corner on the volley, crashing the ball into the West Ham United net.
It helped his side to a 3-0 win, which took them into third place in the 26-team competition, behind leaders Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham.
Dibley-Dias (20) was on the verge of breaking into Fulham’s first team when he was injured at the New Zealand squad’s October training camp in England, ahead of the All Whites’ games against DR Congo and Australia.
Though selected for the New Zealand squad, he has yet to make his international debut.
He had been expected to make his international debut during those games, after choosing to play for the country of his birth, despite being eligible to play for Brazil, Portugal and England.
After Dibley-Dias left the training camp, New Zealand captain Chris Wood said: “He’s got a bright future ahead of him. From what I’ve seen in the couple of training sessions we’ve had, he’s got quality which is great to see.”
