Egypt have named a 25-player squad to face New Zealand in their March international fixture in Cairo.

After much speculation, Liverpool star Mohamed Salah was not included after he and his club asked for him to not play in the tournament while he recovers from a hamstring injury.

Arsenal’s Mohamed Elneny was also left out by new Egyptian manager Hossam Hassan whose first game in charge will be against the All Whites.

Defender Ahmed Hegazi (33) provides the experience at the back with 88 caps. He plays his club football for Saudi champions Al-Ittihad and turned out against Auckland City in December’s 3-0 win at the FIFA Club World Cup.
