WATCH: All White Chris Wood scores his ninth EPL goal of the campaign

New Zealand striker Chris Wood is on track for his fifth double-figure haul in an English Premier League season after scoring for his Nottingham Forest club against Luton Town.

Wood put Forest ahead after 34 minutes when he finished a cross to the back post by Morgan Gibbs-White, giving him his ninth goal of the season.

However, Wood (32) was forced to leave the pitch with an injury in the 75th minute.

Forest manager Nuno Espíruti Santo said in his post-game interview the injury had still to be assessed.

“He was feeling something, so it was a precaution. Hopefully, it’s nothing,’’ he said.

Wood’s goal against Luton was the New Zealander’s seventh in 10 games under Nuno.

If Wood can find another goal, his fifth double-figure achievement will add him to an elite band of strikers that includes Mohamed Salah (Liverpool), Harry Kane (Spurs), Jamie Vardy (Leicester City) and Son Heung-Min (Spurs).

The draw left Nottingham Forest one place above the relegation zone and 18th-placed Luton Town, who are three points behind.

Meanwhile, Wood will join the All Whites for their March 23 (NZT) international against Egypt in Cairo.
