New Zealand to face France and United States in men’s Olympic Games group

New Zealand’s OlyWhites have been drawn to play group games against hosts France, the United States and the winner of an Asian-African play-off at the Paris Olympics.

New Zealand’s opening match will be against the play-off winners at the Stade de Nice, Nice, in southern France, on Thursday July 25, 2024,with a kick-off time of 3am (NZT).

The tournament will be held from July 24 – August 10, 2024.

Three Asian teams will qualify through the AFC U-23 Asian Cup, to be held April 15 – May 3.

The fourth remaining spot will come from an intercontinental play-off between an Asian team and Guinea, from West Africa.

The men’s football tournament at the Olympics

Men’s football at the Olympics is restricted to under-23 players (born on or after January 1, 2000), though each team can select up to three overage players.

Match venues for the tournament are Paris, Bordeux, Décines-Charpieu (near Lyon), Marseille, Nantes, Nice and Saint-Étienne.
