Here’s our round-up of Thursday’s floodlit action in Auckland, Hamilton and Christchurch as football fans made an early start to Easter.
In the Northern League, Melville United won the Waikato derby with a last-minute goal from Erik Panzer giving them a 2-1 win at Porritt Stadium.

In the Lotto NRFL Women’s Premiership, newly-crowned OFC Women’s Champions League winners Auckland United started their domestic season with a 4-0 win at Ellerslie.
The match also gave United the chance to unveil new season signings in former Wellington Phoenix pair Chloe Knott and Saskia Vosper. Both came on as second-half substitutes.
In the Southern League, Ferrymead Bays and Christchurch United are off to winning starts.
