Ferns midfielder Grace Wisnewski has shared the story of her season-ending ACL injury and her road to recovery with women’s A-League club Wellington Phoenix.
Wisnewski (21) suffered her serious knee injury in November 2023, when she fell awkwardly while tackling a Brisbane Roar player at Wellington’s Sky Stadium.
“As soon as I got up and started walking, I was like ‘oh yeah it’s not fine’,” she recalls.

Since then, she’s undergone a slow rehabilitation process with the support of Phoenix medical staff, using facilities at the NZ Campus of Innovation and Sport, where the club is based.
