The club has now released its retain/released list of players, and says Wynne is one of two players who “remain in conversation with the club with regards to renewed terms.”

Port Vale finished second bottom in their division and have been relegated to next season’s League Two competition.

Wynne has 15 caps for the All Whites and has represented New Zealand at U-20 and U-23 levels.

His professional career has been spent mostly in the United States and Canada where he has played for MLS and USL Championship clubs including Vancouver Whitecaps, Colorado Rapids and Detroit City.

He and fellow New Zealander Jesse Randall were at Charleston Battery last season.

Randall also left the Battery to sign with Wellington Olympic.
