Reibelt’s journey in the game has seen her officiate at both a domestic and international level, including the FIFA Women’s World Cup in both 2019 and 2023.

In November of 2023, she became the first female to referee in the AFC Champions League, which marked a significant stride in diversity and representation within football officiating.

She will referee the 2024 women’s A-League Grand Final between Melbourne City and Sydney on Saturday May 4, with assistant referees Emma Kocbek and Maggie Price.

The women’s Referee of the Year is awarded to the referee judged the best over the league’s regular season, by Football Australia Head of Referees Nathan Magill and A-Leagues Commissioner Nick Garcia.

Garcia said: “Casey continues to set the benchmark for referees in the Liberty A-League Women and is a fantastic role model for aspiring female referees to shine on the national and international stage.

“We congratulate Casey on a fantastic season of refereeing and her fourth Referee of the Year award. We look forward to having her officiate the Liberty A-League Women Grand Final this weekend.”

Casey Reibelt … has become one of the leading referees for the men’s and women’s A-Leagues.

Magill said: “The selection of Saturday’s Liberty A-League Women’s Grand Final officiating team is acknowledgment of their consistent performances throughout this season, particularly for Casey, who has had an exceptional twelve months both domestically and internationally, including being the first Australian woman to referee an AFC Champions League fixture.

“Casey represented Australia during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, refereeing two matches, and has upheld the lofty standards of officiating both in the domestic leagues plus on the international stage ever since.

“It is only appropriate that Casey has been named the Liberty A-League Women Referee of the Year in recognition of her outstanding efforts this season.

“Football Australia along with the Referees Committee would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to the entire match officials panel for their commitment and professionalism throughout the 2023-24 season and wish those appointed for Saturday’s grand final all the best of luck for the match.”

Reibelt will be presented with her award at the conclusion of the Grand Final between Melbourne City and Sydney FC at AAMI Park.
