WATCH: Highlights from Sydney’s fifth women’s A-League grand final win

Sydney have won the 2024 women’s A-League grand final, beating Melbourne City 1-0 at AAMI Park in front of more than 7,500 fans.

The victory sees Sydney crowned champions for a record fifth time.

After both sides created big chances early, the opening 45 minutes of the 2024 Liberty A-League grand final remained tense as both sides headed to the break locked in a stalemate.

The second half started much the same, until an exquisite through ball from 16-year-old Indiana Dos Santos set attacker Shea Connors through on goal, and she slid the ball past the on-rushing Melissa Barbieri to send Sydney a goal clear with 20 minutes to play.

Shea Connors shows her delight at scoring the game’s only goal.

Despite a relentless Melbourne City and a frantic finish, the Sky Blues managed to hold on to their advantage and claim a record fifth Liberty A-League crown.

Sydney midfielder Mackenzie Hawkesby was named the Player of the Match at full time as recognition for her standout performance for the Sky Blues.
