WATCH: Former All Whites striker Elliot Collier breaks goalscoring drought

Former New Zealand international Elliot Collier has scored his first goal of the year — and his first for second-tier American club Indy Eleven — with a late winner in the USL Championship.

Hamilton-born Collier (29) came off the bench for Indy Eleven when their game was scoreless at Monterey Bay, and he smashed home the winning goal in the 88th minute.

The goal ended a drought for Collier whose last goal in the competition was 10 months ago, for his former club San Diego Loyal.

He signed for Indianapolis club Indy Eleven in January but his first team appearances have been restricted to eight as a substitute.

The latest goal was his 14th from 91 appearances in the USL Championship.

Collier last played for the All Whites in 2019 and has been US-based for seven years.

A graduate of the Olé Football Academy, Collier’s New Zealand clubs included Hamilton Wanderers, Waikato United and Wellington’s Island Bay United.
