WATCH: Play-off to decide who’ll be New Zealand’s Olympic Games opponents

A sudden death play-off between Indonesia and Guinea in the early hours of Friday will determine who will play New Zealand in their opening group game at the Paris Olympics.

The play-off will take place in Clairefontaine, France, and will be streamed free and live to New Zealand viewers by FIFA+.

Indonesia finished fourth at the 2024 AFC U-23 Asian Cup to earn an intercontinental play-off against Africa’s Guinea.

The winners will join New Zealand, France and the United States in Group A at the Summer Olympics, starting on July 25, 2024.

The men’s football tournament at the Olympics

Men’s football at the Olympics is restricted to under-23 players (born on or after January 1, 2000), though each team can select up to three overage players.

Match venues for the tournament are Paris, Bordeux, Décines-Charpieu (near Lyon), Marseille, Nantes, Nice and Saint-Étienne.
