All Whites defender to leave Scotland to sign for Auckland FC, report claims

New Zealand international defender Callan Elliot will leave Scottish Premiership club Motherwell to sign for A-League expansion club Auckland FC, according to a Scottish news report.

Elliot (24) will be out of contract after Motherwell end their season on Monday May 20 (NZT) and Scotland’s Daily Record says the right back will return to New Zealand to join Auckland FC.

After failing to agree a new contract with the Wellington Phoenix in 2023, Elliot moved to the United Kingdom, joining Motherwell in January 2024.

He has struggled for game time under manager Stuart Kettlewell.

Motherwell have two Premiership fixtures left in their season.

On Thursday May 16, they travel to Hibernian, the club part-owned by Auckland FC majority owner Bill Foley and his Black Knight sporting investment group.

Motherwell then play St Johnstone at home next Monday (NZT).

Elliot, who was born in Scotland, has three caps for the All Whites, making his debut in March 2023 against China.
