Central Coast Mariners have achieved their historic trophy treble, beating Melbourne Victory 3-1 in extra time of the men’s A-League grand final.
The Mariners added the A-League Championship to their Premiers’ Plate and AFC Cup to the joy of a record 21,000 crowd at the Industree Group Stadium, Gosford.
After 90 minutes, it looked like the Mariners’ dream was over, as they trailed 1-0 to a Melbourne Victory goal from Jason Geria in the 50th minute.
But English import Ryan Edmondson scored a stoppage-time equaliser to force the game into extra time.
Miguel Di Pizio gave the Mariners the lead and as the clock wound down, Edmondson scored his second goal of the final to spark wild celebrations when the final whistle went.
