Former president of Northern League club Birkenhead United David Williams has been elected to the board of Northern Region Football.
Williams, a member of Birkenhead United for 20 years, recently stepped down from the role of president, after four years.
During his term, he oversaw significant ground improvements with Shepherds Park serving as Italy’s training base at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, and helping the club focus on promoting girls and women’s football, and creating connections with the community.
Williams was elected to the NRF board at its 2024 annual general meeting.

“Alvin has made a significant contribution in his time with NRF, and the board thanks him wholeheartedly for his commitment and perspective, and wishes him well for the future,” NRF chair Gina Mills said.
Outgoing chair Andrea Nelson was also recognised for her contribution to football leadership at the AGM.
