Birkenhead United striker Alex Greive has signed an 18-month deal with Scottish Premiership club St Mirren.
The 22-year-old Aucklander – who scored 25 goals in 33 games last year – had been training with the club since late last year but the transfer could only go ahead with the opening of the January transfer window.
Birkenhead United and St Mirren announced a strategic partnership last year and the Greive signing is the first on-field benefit from the arrangement for the Scottish club.

Announcing the signing, Saints manager Jim Goodwin told the club’s website:
“He brings creativity, he’s a little bit different to some of the other strikers we have at the moment, he’s quite dynamic and he’s a decent footballer so we’re excited to have him involved.
“He’s a very good professional. He’s looked very sharp in training and I think he’s surprised one or two.”
Greive was United’s main goalscorer in last year’s Northern League and was part of the New Zealand Olympic provisional squad for the Tokyo Games.
