All White Bill Tuiloma has helped his Portland Timbers side to their first Major League Soccer win in 2022 with a winning goal against Austin.

He launched himself at a cross into the Austin box, heading the ball into the net for a 62nd-minute goal that turned out to be the match decider.

Tuiloma meets the cross with a diving header.

Tuiloma: ‘I told myself to stay calm’

“It feels great,” Tuiloma told Oregon Live after the 1-0 victory.

“I had a couple chances in the first half, and I kind of got frustrated, but I told myself to just stay calm and the goal will come.

“Eventually, it did, which I’m happy about. But other than that, the back four and really the whole team battled until the end.”

Tuiloma (26) heads for Qatar next weekend to join his New Zealand team mates for the eight-national Oceania FIFA World Cup qualifying tournament.

He will miss the opening game against Papua New Guinea.
