Almond to share ’82 World Cup memories with Papanui-Redwood club

Former All White Bobby Almond will be the special guest of Canterbury’s Papanui-Redwood AFC at a function on Thursday April 28.

The defender from the 1982 FIFA World Cup squad will share stories of his career in football which saw him become part of the first New Zealand team to reach a World Cup finals tournament.

Tickets for the event cost $20 and are limited to 70 for the evening which runs from 7.30pm till 9pm.

The bar at Papanui-Redwood’s Redwood Park clubrooms opens at 6.30pm.

Proceeds from ticket sales will go to The Centre Circle, of which Almond is the chair.

The Centre Circle is a partner organisation of Friends of Football.
