Football Fern Katie Rood certainly has the winning touch — she’s landed another champion’s medal, this time with Southampton, the UK Women’s National League Southern Premier Champions following a midweek 2-0 derby victory over Plymouth.

Southampton play off with the National League Northern champions Wolverhampton Wanderers for a spot in next season’s Women’s Championship.

Prior to the play-off, Southampton meet Huddersfield Town this weekend in the final of the Women’s National League Cup.

Rood has previously won titles with Marist Whangarei, Glenfield Rovers, Northern Football and Juventus.

The striker joined the Saints from Lewes FC earlier this season.

She first played in the United Kingdom in 2012 when she joined Lincoln Ladies in the FA WSL as a teenager, having played seven seasons at Auckland’s Glenfield Rovers.

She made her full international debut in 2017, and signed for Italian club Juventus the same year. A move to Bristol City followed and then a loan spell at Lewes which became a full move in 2019.
