Auckland City have strolled through to the third round of the Chatham Cup, beating Albany United 5-1 in a rescheduled tie played at the Croatian Cultural Club.

Albany, who play in the Lotto NRFL first division, were still in the game when only a goal behind with eight minutes to go, but City’s strong finish saw them through to the next round.

Auckland City will be at home to Manukau United in the third round fixture to be played on Saturday June 18.

The Northern League leaders struck first when Emiliano Tade scored after six minutes.

Jason Hicks leveled for Albany in added time at the end of the first half, sending the sides into the break locked 1-1.

Nathan Lobo put City back in front five minutes into the second spell, when he struck a free-kick and it took a deflection, sending Albany ‘keeper David Masters the wrong way.
