Franklin United gain ground in NRF Women’s Championship after 4-2 win

posted in: News

Franklin United have turned the NRF Women’s Championship into a three-way race after beating Onehunga Sports 4-2 in the only game played in the competition last weekend.

With other games postponed, the match at Waikaraka Park between the competition’s second and third-placed sides became a classic ‘six-pointer’ in the struggle to catch league leaders Hibiscus Coast.

The sides went into half-time tied at 2-2 after both sides had taken the lead and then succumbed to equalisers.

But in the second spell, Chloe Marthe scored twice for Franklin, ensuring they made ground on Onehunga Sports on the table.

Hibiscus Coast remain the only unbeaten side in the competition and have conceded only three goals this season.
