Papatoetoe beat Rangers 5-2 to keep lead in NRF Men’s Championship

Papatoetoe beat South Auckland Rangers 5-2 in a top-of-the-table clash to keep the lead in the NRF Men’s Championship.

Papatoetoe fell behind after 17 minutes when Ryan Kumar opened the scoring for Rangers.

However, Christopher Groen levelled in the 41st minute to send the teams into half-time locked 1-1.

Papatoetoe extended their lead to 3-1 through Aakash Kumar and Andrew Naicker.

Rangers reduced the deficit to 3-2 when Salesh Kumar scored after 79 minutes.

But Papatoetoe made sure of victory with late goals from Naicker, his second, and Sandip Singh in added time.

Meanwhile, Te Atatu beat Ranui Swanson 6-2 in a game marked by Rhys Caples’ 100th appearance.
