New Zealand’s women’s team have earned a semi-final against Portugal at the FISU World University Futsal Championships in Portugal.
Playing at the Multiusos de Guimarães, Portugal, the New Zealand side beat Israel 5-1 in their last pool game to go into the knockout stages of the week-long tournament.
Five different players got on the scoresheet for New Zealand who took control with a four-goal burst in a five-minute spell of play.
The women will meet Portugal on Saturday July 23 (3am NZT).
Meanwhile, in the men’s championship, New Zealand lost 6-1 to Portugal in their final group game.
This qualifies them for a quarter-final on Saturday against the highly-regarded Brazil side.
They will play at the UMinho’s Sports Complex on Friday July 22 (midnight, NZT).
