Substitute Tayla Hetherington scored the winning goal with a second-half free kick to give Manukau United a 1-0 win against Fencibles United in Friday’s NRF Women’s Championship match.
The sides shared a goalless first half before Hetherington, returning to her club side after captaining the Cook Islands in the recent OFC Women’s Nations Cup, came off the bench to fire home the only goal of an even match.
The win lifted Manukau above Fencibles United in the table.
Manukau are back in action again on Sunday when they travel to Metro.
