Late Sabich winner lifts Waitemata off bottom of Lotto NRFL first division table

posted in: Lotto NRFL, News

Waitemata have lifted themselves off the foot of the Lotto NRFL first division table with a 2-1 win against Albany United.

Substitute Ryan Sabich scored the winner two minutes from time to record a come-from-behind victory at Albany’s Rosedale Park.

Albany had taken the lead in the first half when Martin Centurion scored on the half-hour.

Arnold Kochasira levelled for Waitemata a few minutes before half-time and the sides turnaround locked 1-1.

Sabich came off the bench for the last 10 minutes of the match and his introduction paid off when he scored the late winner.

Waitemata leap-frogged Albany on the table, thanks to the win, and are now within two points of catching 10th-placed Metro.
