Arjomandi leads with double strike for Wanderers to sink Tauranga in WPL

posted in: News

Two goals from former Football Fern Helen Arjomandi spearheaded a 4-0 win by Hamilton Wanderers against Tauranga City in the Lotto NRFL Women’s Premier League.

Playing a catch-up game under lights at Hamilton’s Porritt Stadium, Wanderers needed the win to enhance their chances of climbing out of the competition’s bottom two places.

After almost half an hour without a breakthrough, Arjomandi gave her side the lead and they took the 1-0 scoreline into half-time.

Midway through the second spell, Arjomandi doubled Wanderers’ lead with her ninth goal of the season (which takes her into second place on the WPL leading scorers’ table).

As the game wore on, Wanderers were able to extend their winning margin to 4-0 with late goals from Shannon Trebes and substitute Lily Brazendale who found the net only two minutes after coming off the bench.
