Bay Olympic break through for first win in NRF Women’s Conference

Bay Olympic got their first win of the season with a 3-0 victory against Birkenhead United in the NRF Women’s Conference.

With the split of the Women’s Championship into two competitions, Bay Olympic had the chance for a fresh start and they took advantage by racing to a 3-0 lead by half-time with goals from Ahyoung Roach, Molly Flynn and Breearne Illing.

They held on for their win and moved above Birkenhead United to get off the foot of the five-team table.

Te Atatu beat Metrol 2-1 to take the leadership role in the competition, three points ahead of Beachlands Maraetai who have a game in hand.

Competition format

This weekend’s round of games were the first played since the split of the 11-team NRF Championship into two tiers for the rest of the season.

The top six sides after 10 rounds have become the Championship, while the remaining five teams now comprise the NRF Women’s Conference.
