Coast run up five against Central United to extend winning streak in NRF Championship

posted in: News

Hibiscus Coast extended their 100% winning record to 11 games this season with a 5-0 win against Central United in the NRF Women’s Championship.

Coast spread the goals around with four players finding the net — Danica Ulrich-Beech, Suzy Jung, Peta Van Hattum (2) and Christina Longmuir.

Importantly, Coast kept another clean sheet, meaning they have conceded only three goals in the competition.

Former Football Fern Pip Meo came off the subs’ bench to score both goals for Onehunga Sports in their 2-0 win at Manukau United.

The 38-year-old showed all her experience as she struck in the 25th and 85th minutes to help keep her side second on the table.

Competition format

This weekend’s round of games were the first played since the split of the 11-team NRF Championship into two tiers for the rest of the season.

The top six sides after 10 rounds have become the Championship, while the remaining five teams now comprise the NRF Women’s Conference.
