Pearce hat-trick fires West Coast Rangers closer to first division title

posted in: News

West Coast Rangers can win the Lotto NRFL first division title next weekend after hammering bottom side Albany United 6-0 in their latest outing.

A hat-trick from veteran striker Allan Pearce led the way for Rangers as they showed no mercy to struggling Albany at Rosedale Park.

Already sure of promotion to next year’s National League, Rangers need two points from their remaining fixtures (against Tauranga City and Waitemata) to be certain of the title.

Pearce got Rangers off to a good start, scoring from the penalty spot in the 7th minute.

Two minutes later, Sean Willcox doubled their lead.

Pearce went back to the penalty spot for his next goal, giving Rangers a 3-0 lead with little more than half an hour gone.

Willcox added a fourth in the 38th minute to send the league leaders into half-time with a four-goal margin.

Pearce completed his hat-trick within a minute of the restart, and the result was a sure thing from there.

Substitute Ben Hutter added Rangers’ sixth with two minutes to go.
