Te Atatu take out NRF Women’s Conference title after win against Bay Olympic

posted in: News

Te Atatu have won the NRF Women’s Conference after beating Bay Olympic in their latest game.

Te Atatu beat Bay Olympic 3-0 after leading 1-0 at half-time.

Bronwyn Caples opened the scoring in the ninth minute.

In the second half, Te Atatu added goals from Rebecca Gage (59′) and Wyllowe Poata (82′).

Meanwhile, all the goals came late as Metro beat Beachlands Maraetai 2-1 at Phyllis St Reserve.

Laura Maclean struck first for Metro in the 70th minute but Grace Cronin quickly equalised for Beachlands Maraetai.

Michaela Buckley got the winner for Metro with four minutes to go.

The Conference was created from the split in early August of the 11-team NRF Women’s Championship into two tiers of competition.

Correction: An earlier version of this story said Metro were on the verge of taking the title. Our apologies to Te Atatu and Metro for this mistake.
