Lynn-Avon United withstood a late fightback from Ranui Swanson to win their Tuesday night game 3-2 in the NRF Men’s Championship.

Going into the break 2-0 up at half-time, and seeking only their second win in a difficult season, Lynn-Avon United appeared to have the game in the bag at Ken Maunder Park.

But Ranui Swanson had the better of the second half but pulled up short.

Callum Phillips put Lynn-Avon ahead after 33 minutes.

Three minutes later, Ryan Cozett doubled the home side’s lead.

That’s how it stayed till early in the second half when Mohammed Haj pulled back a goal for Ranui Swanson.

Cozett then scored his second of the night to restore United’s two-goal buffer.

Both sides went to their benches, with Lynn-Avon bringing on five sets of fresh legs for the last 10 minutes, while the visitors used four second-half subs as they fought back.

Ranui Swanson sub Cameron Woods found the net with five minutes left, creating an anxious finish to the game before United could celebrate their second win of the year.
