All Whites midfielder Marko Stamenic has told 1News he’s looking forward to pitting himself against Manchester City and Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League.
Stamenic (20), who plays for Danish side FC Copenhagen, supported Barcelona as a boy, and his father is a Manchester City fan.
The player, who was playing Central League with Western Suburbs only two years ago, will be in FC Copenhagen’s squad to play Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on October 6.
“To make the Champions League and also see the draw, it’s incredible,” he said.
Meanwhile, national coach Danny Hay — who played in the Champions League when with Leeds United — says he believes Stamenic can become on of the greatest ever All Whites.
“He’s an incredibly composed player, for someone so young,” Hay said.
