The NRF Women’s Cup final between Metro and Hibiscus Coast will be held at Papakura’s McLennan Park on Sunday October 2.
The game will bring down the curtain on the NRF women’s season and give Coast the chance to secure a league/cup double, having already taken the NRF Women’s Championship.
The teams reached the final with semi-final wins on Sunday September 11, when Metro beat Central United 1-0 and Coast overcame Manukau United 3-1.
Both sides had their most difficult games in the cup when they reached the quarter-final stage.
Metro were beaten 4-1 by Onehunga Sports but were given a reprieve when the win was taken from their opponents for fielding ineligible players.
Hibiscus Coast, unbeaten in the league and cup this year, needed a 7-6 penalty shoot-out win to get past their club’s second women’s team, after they drew 0-0 in ordinary time.
Reaching the final continues an outstanding year for the Hibiscus Coast club, with the men’s first team winning the Lotto NRFL second division, and their reserves reaching the final of the NRF Men’s Federation Cup.
