Hibiscus Coast have won the national U-19s men’s satellite tournament at Napier after beating Northland 1-0 in a tense final on Labour Monday.

Taine Bracken scored the winner in the 32nd minute to take advantage of a Northland side who were reduced to 10-men when Morgan Tirney was sent off in the 29th minute.

Despite playing a man down, Northland made it difficult for Coast and had the chance to level with four minutes left when they were awarded a penalty.

But the Coast ‘keeper flung himself to his left, palming away the spot kick to keep Northland scoreless.

The post-match stats, showed Coast had the advantage of play, with three shots, compared to Northland’s 2.

Coast forced three corners, while Northland had one.
