Western Springs’ Dawson Straffon heads for overseas after winning club awards

Western Springs winger Dawson Straffon is heading to the UK after a successful Northern League season in which he won three club awards for his performances.

The 19-year-old has been named Springs’ 2022 first-team Player of the Year, its Players’ Player of the Year and its Supporters’ male Player of the Year.

Straffon (main photo) was one of many players recognised by Springs at their recent end-of-season prizegiving.

As well as honouring prize winners, the club thanked outgoing head coach Chris Zoricich, leaving after five seasons, and first team player Kayne Vincent who donated one of his All Whites shirts to the club.

Women’s first-team player Sophia Dyer was also recognised for playing her 20th consecutive season for the club.

Shirt presentations were made to players who achieved International honours during the year.

These were Emma Pijnenburg (New Zealand U-20), Lara Colpi (New Zealand U-17), Jaedeci Uluvili (Samoa national team), Angelique Tui-Samoa (Samoa national team), Taine Wilson (Samoa U-19).
